The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) is a global communion of Christian churches in the Lutheran tradition. Founded in 1947 in Lund, Sweden, the LWF now has 145 member churches in 79 countries all over the world representing over 70 million Christians. Waka Waka solar cell lamps were distributed on June 6, to habitants in les Palmes who don't have access to electricity and with very limited resources to buy batteries and kerosene. With one lamp, charged during the day, the families can enlighten their houses during eight hours in the evening and night.

Women outside a school built by LWF Haiti after the 2010 earthquake in Palmes 9/10 in Petit Goave. The women have had difficult months since Hurricane Sandy hit Haiti in October 2012, but have received basic support from LWF including emergency food and cash vouchers for reconstruction. LWF also works with local groups to reduce the vulnerability of these communities in the longer term, and reducing the risk of future disasters.
